EXIF (Exchangeable Image File Format) metadata is embedded information stored inside image files, including GPS coordinates, camera model, date and time, and software used. Removing it protects your privacy when sharing photos online, as EXIF data can reveal your exact location and device information.
Will removing metadata affect my image quality?
No. Metadata removal does not degrade the visual quality of your image. The pixel data is fully preserved. For JPEG outputs, you can control the re-encoding quality using the quality slider (default 92%).
Are my photos uploaded to a server?

Does this work on iPhone photos (HEIC)?
Modern browsers can display HEIC images when loaded via a file picker. The canvas re-draw approach will strip metadata and output a clean JPEG. For full HEIC support, try using the HEIC to JPG converter tool first.
What types of metadata are removed?
The canvas redraw method removes all EXIF data (GPS, camera info, timestamps), XMP metadata (Adobe editing history), IPTC data (copyright, captions), ICC color profiles, and any embedded thumbnails or software tags.
