How to Filter Semrush Keywords for Best SEO Results

What is the KEI Score (Keyword Efficiency Index)?

The **KEI Score** (Keyword Efficiency Index) is a formula that evaluates how lucrative a keyword is compared to its ranking difficulty. The score is calculated as:

KEI Score = [Volume × (CPC + 0.1)] ÷ Max(1, KD %)

A high KEI represents a sweet spot for SEO: a keyword with solid monthly search volume and high commercial value (Cost Per Click), but with a low difficulty percentage (KD %). Sorting your Semrush lists by this index instantly floats the highest ROI keywords to the top.

Understanding Semrush Search Intent Categories

Semrush tags keywords with search intent codes to signify a searcher's goal:

  • Informational (I): The user is looking for an answer to a specific question (e.g. "how to merge pdfs on mac"). Excellent for blogs.
  • Commercial (C): The user wants to investigate brands or services (e.g. "best free pdf merger tool"). Highly valuable for comparison pages.
  • Transactional (T): The user aims to complete an action or purchase (e.g. "buy semrush subscription"). Best conversion rates.
  • Navigational (N): The user is trying to find a specific website or brand name (e.g. "Semrush login").

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) – Semrush Filter Tool

Does my CSV data get uploaded to any servers?

No. Agnixbit is 100% serverless and local-first. The parser parses files locally in your browser cache. None of your keywords, lists, or volumes are uploaded, maintaining complete business privacy.

What columns must my uploaded CSV contain?

The tool parses standard Semrush exports containing at minimum a column named `Keyword`. It additionally reads columns named `Intent`, `Volume`, `KD %` (or `KD`), `CPC (USD)`, and `Com.` to apply corresponding filters.

How does the "contain / exclude" word filter work?

You can insert a comma-separated list of keywords. The "Must Contain" filter filters for rows matching any of the positive keywords, while the "Exclude" filter deletes rows matching any of the negative keywords.

Can I click on keywords in the results list?

Yes. Clicking any keyword name in the table opens Google search results for that exact keyword in a new browser tab, letting you inspect the current SERP structure instantly.
